On Labor day we got another addition to our family of misfit animals. On top of already having 3 rats (Molly, Chaos, and Calamity), Nora’s hamster Saskja, and Jake’s lizard Zaphod Beeblebrox, we now have a goregous snake!
Before you all freak out, she’s really more like a puppy than a vicious creature. She is a rainbow boa, and she’s so goregous. When the light hits her scales just right you can see shimmery colors all through out her scales. She is currently a little under two feet long, but her adult length should get to be about 4 – 6 feet (we’re hoping for the 6′)!
She is such a lover, and very people friendly. And don’t worry about the kids getting bitten, she has only a tiny row of ridges in her mouth, and her whole head is the size of a smallish strawberry, so biting really isn’t an issue.
Snakes live aproximately 15 – 20 years, so she will be a nice, long-term family member. She doesn’t have a name yet, but we are taking suggestions. Scott and I are looking for something Greek, or celtic…but any unique suggestion will be accepted!
